I’m genuinely excited for my friends and colleagues that are creating & working in this season. Ya better get it!!! 😘 TRANSPARENCY ALERT… For me, this season has been filled with one disappointment after another, after anotheeerrr. And it gets awfully tempting to compare my disappointments to others’ successes. But I believe it’s totally possible to have a healthy period of mourning disappointments (God doesn’t want me dwelling in my sorrows forever y’all 🫣) and being elated for others’ triumphs. My old, rusty necklace reads “COMPARISON is the thief of JOY.” And I’m always grateful for this reminder. Because “when we compare ourselves, we heighten our own shortcomings.” - Awe of God, John Bevere. And I know good and well, “That Joy Of the Lord is my strength” - Neh 8:10. He doesn’t want me to beat myself up all the time. So for any of you who are on this “struggle bus of an industry” right now, please know you are not alone. Working people from across sectors are organizing for better conditions. Working Latinas are making their voices heard to be paid fully and fairly now. I’m continuing to carry the torch and celebrating 2 Latinas that are paving the way for more Latina creatives. @brigliebs is an super talented TV writer and showrunner AND @claudiforest is the creator and EP of @gorditachronicleslives. These women brought a story to life that made this Dominicanita feel seen and heard. And they continue to create and advocate for more of our experiences to be represented. Mi madre ♥️. I was named after my mother, Narc Mi madre ♥️. I was named after my mother, Narcisa. She is gentle and kind, but she’s a prayer warrior and fiercely determined. Her story and the sacrifices she’s made for her family are unbelievable. You’d never know the struggles she’s been through. When you meet her, she radiates joy and encouragement. God blessed me with a mighty woman for a mother. I know she got a lot of her strength from her mother, Andrea (last slide). Unfortunately, my abuela Andrea passed away when my mom was only 16. I wish I would’ve gotten a chance to meet my abuela, but I’m honored to be apart of a long line of kind, Godly and mighty women. Oh…and my mother would always sing anything from Miriam Hernandez. I have wonderful memories of her singing all of her songs with such passion!!! She doesn’t have a great voice, but her passion was never lacking! 🤣. Love you mami!!

But it has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. God, I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to raise up my 3 boys with my hubby. We’re really looking forward to the men they will become. 💙💙💙 And my hubby and the boys did a great job today. I LOOOOOOVE me some flowers…and balloons…and food…and ALONE time 🤣. Writing is DIFF-I-CULT. At least it is for me. I’d start and then stop. Start up again and then get distracted by a squirrel. 🐿️ Or a bird 🦜. Or the dishes 🫧🧽. I’d near the end, think it was awful and was afraid to finish it. But, God y’all. I have awesome friends who pushed me to finish. We held accountability sessions and took classes. (Shout out to @theonlyemilygrace and her amazing Short Film Lab!). And my first short screenplay is done. I didn’t get an official selection, but I got an Honorable Mention!! Which is a huge deal for me. So I’m going to keep pushing forward with all God has put on my heart to do. Not sure how it’ll all end, but I’m gonna keep being obedient 🙏🏽.
